Feedback from a school family support worker about our programme.
School Family Worker, Hertfordshire
“I have spoken with all of the children and they have said that they are really enjoying their sessions with you. All three children feel the sessions are helping them and they look forward to them each week. All three children have consistently attended and engaged and are willing to go back each week which isn’t always the way if they don’t connect with a practitioner.”
Teacher
“The impact you had upon the wellbeing of the children was immeasurable. You were able to work across a wide age range and really tailor the support to the needs of the children. This enabled the children to have the outlet they needed and also supported them to access their education.”
Drawing & Talking Practitioner
Jenna
“Being a drawing and talking practitioner had really opened my eyes to how children are seeing the world and struggling with different situations. Helping them through these situations and giving them advice when they needed it was something I really enjoyed, and made me happy that there were open and sharing with me.
Children come to drawing and talking for all different things, such as struggling to make friends at school, hard situations at home, anxiety and all different things. Drawing and talking is a great way to express how you are feeling through drawing and knowing it is a safe space to talk.
I built up a trusting relationship with all the children that I delivered drawing and talking to, others from the start were very open, others took a little longer to know that I could be trusted and started to feel safe.
The outcomes that I saw towards the end were amazing, some people did not want me to go and wanted me to continue drawing and talking with them in their next year of school. This showed me that they needed drawing and talking and that it helped them. Others had been open about their feelings and worries.
I really enjoyed this experience and cannot wait to continue delivering drawing and talking to others.”
